A commenter on Facebook added: “I’m very involved the the Pokemon community and now living in South Korea. […] South Korea is one of the only countries in the world that doesn’t allow foreigners who live in the country the same opportunities as [native born citizens.]”

This isn’t necessarily the biggest deal in the world, but it’s yet another (relatively small) bump in the road on Korea’s pathway toward being a more pluralistic society.
