How did this happen? We’re smarter than this!
Mitt Romney, the former Massachusetts governor who has launched a bid to represent Utah in the U.S. Senate, said he’s “more of a hawk on immigration” than President Donald Trump, citing his opposition to an Obama-era initiative that offered protections for young undocumented immigrants.
Apparently we’re not.
Last year, I wrote a long article (read it here!) pointing out that Trump is a feature, and not a bug, of the Republican Party. People don’t seem to get it: it’s great to have conservatives allied against Trump, but most of them will end up supporting 99% of what Trump wants to do. Only they’ll ask him to send fewer tweets and to speak in a more polite tone, of course! These are not true allies.
