Today, left-wing talker Ed Schultz died. I didn’t really enjoy his show all too much, but I did meet him in person once. Seemed like a nice enough person, I suppose. However, there’s one moment in his career that I’ll never forget.
In 2011, Ed Schultz called conservative Laura Ingraham a “right-wing slut.” Ingraham may be a terrible, disgusting individual – however, a misogynist attack is still misogynist. So, Ed asked MSNBC to suspend him for a week, and he made this apology:
It was surprisingly heartfelt. Admittedly I didn’t really follow the story much before or after the apology, but, from what I could tell, it was earnest and ended up being well-received. Laura Ingraham surprisingly accepted the apology. Schultz totally admitted wrong-doing, owned it, and asked for forgiveness. He pulled no punches.
