In 2016, Apple released a standalone app for Apple Watch called Breathe. While the bulk of the press sadly revolved around their unfortunate decision to quote a noted pseudo-scientist, the app is still really good. It never quite got the recognition it deserved.
When you open the app, you are able to choose how long you want to do breathing exercises for in increments of 60 seconds. You can do it for only 1 minute or for as long as 5 minutes. On the iPhone’s Apple Watch app, you can choose how many breaths to take per minute (between four and ten). Press ‘start’ on your Apple Watch to begin and follow the instructions.
It’s a watchOS app that I genuinely hope Apple does not kill off. If anything, I would love to see it expanded with tvOS, iOS, and macOS versions as well! I don’t use it nearly as much as I want to, but it’s a great way to relax during the day.
